Peek at My Week ~3.24.14 Finishing Up South America and a FREEBIE

I am just about ready for this busy week. We are having a Rainforest Bake Sale on Tuesday to raise money to help protect the rainforest (that also helps my little friends with coins since they are the cashiers). On Wednesday we have our Parent Night where my students will share a bit about what they have learned this month with their parents and then they will do all sorts of activities with their families. It is always sooooo fun!

Here is a little peek at my week:

This will be our last week of learning about the rainforest...up next will be the ocean!

I have spent a lot of time working on this baby, I hope to have it posted by this evening. It is jam-packed with a little bit of everything about South America. It is over 100 pages now and I am adding more!

Spring Break FREEBIE

I am so thankful for Spring Break and a little bit sad that it is almost over. Last year I posted this little freebie. It worked like a charm when my little friends returned from Spring Break. I had them on their desks when they walked in. We started our morning circle as usual and then part way through I dismissed them to go and fill in their Spring Break Postcards. They worked so hard, the room was silent. Then we all came back to the circle rug and shared. In case you would like it here it is:

Fairy tale update and a Writer's Workshop Freebie

I wanted to stop by quickly to post my lesson plans for the week. I am going to Mexico on Friday and worked today to get prepared for my awesome sub "Mrs. Chrissie" next week as well. We are super busy with fairy tales, balance and motion and maps around here. There are a few pictures below...we had snow up on Mauna Kea! Have a wonderful week friends!!

This is the view from my classroom of Mauna Kea. Can you see it behind the trees? There is a little snow on the top. It is fun for our kiddos to see. Some of them were lucky enough to go visit it or to have some brought down to play with.

During the month of February we learn all about Europe. Each week we learn about a different country: England, France, Germany and Italy. This week is our last week, so we will be learning about Italy...mainly Venice!

8.26.13 {Peek at my Week Linky} and I Like Me! Freebie

I am sorry that it has been so long since I have last posted...but, I am back. School started this past Monday and there is so much that I want to share with you! We are going to start our travels around the world tomorrow with Africa. Here is a peek at my week:

If you are anything like me you ran to Wal-Mart as soon as you read Reagan Tunstall's post on her Easter Finds. If you haven't you can endulge here. Well, I bought her math and literacy stations as well as Sarah Cooley's. They are all super cute! I know that for some of my firsties, manipulatives are what they gravitate towards, so here is a little booklet to help with that. It works perfectly with the Easter egg holder and bunny manipulatives from Wal-Mart, as shown in the picture on Reagan's site. All students need to do is use the manipulatives, draw illustrations to match the picture and solve.

Writing Craft Posters are Here!!

I am so excited to share that I have posted my Writing Crafts and Strategies posters on TpT! I absolutely love these posters and use them daily during Writer's Workshop and Reader's Workshop (more on that later).

 

I think that Writing Crafts are my favorite topic to teach students. They are fun and any level of writer that you have can incorporate them. Here is one example from my classroom this year of how I posted the poster beside some of our written work. Below the point of view poster is an "I can" statement card that says "I can write from the point of view of an ant." Our mentor text for this lesson was Hey Little Ant. Another great mentor text is Ant Bully.
